That was summer by Sarah

That was summer

Have you ever heard summer?
Sure you have.
Remember when we would play Cricket
and you would hit the ball on the roof.
Remember the crunch of watermelon and
getting angry every now and then
when we had to spit out the pips.
That was summer.

Have you ever smelled summer?
Sure you have.
Remember going to the the flower garden and smelling the flowers.
Remember when we would go to
Nanas house and we would smell chocolate cake.
That was summer.

Have you ever seen summer?
Sure you have.
Remember eyeing the icecream truck
and begging mum for ice cream.
And remember when we made the best sandcastles
and the the waves would dissolve them within seconds.
That was summer.

Have you ever felt summer?
Sure you have.
Remember when we would have water fights
and I would push you in the freezing cold water.
Remember going to the pools and you were forced to put the slimey yucky sunscreen on and would gag at the smell.
That was summer.

  1. I like how you described the waves dissolving your sandcastles within seconds. I also hate having to spit watermelon pips out! Kaelyn.
